Thank you 2016 Prom Dress Event Volunteers! You were FABULOUS!!!!!
On April 9, 2016, we hosted our Prom Dress Event at Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood. The day was wonderful despite the on again, off again showers!
Geebo the Clown, who is also quite an accomplished Magician, entertained the girls in line with his slight of hand and his magic using his friend Harry the Tarantula!
Lalisa Turner and her non-profit organization, Beyond Beauty, joined us for the first time this year. She brought 15 professional and celebrity make-up artists to assist the girls in pulling together their make-up for Prom Night. Beyond Beauty is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting positive imaging amongst Foster Care Girls. In addition, they mentor those Foster Care Girls who wish to pursue a career in the Beauty Industry.
We had over 200 High School Foster Care Girls attend and choose from over 400 new and beautiful long and short Prom Dresses. They also received an evening purse of their choice, hair care products, a make-up palette, a large tote from the YWCAGLA and a gift card to Payless for their Prom shoes!
It was very emotional as the girls emerged from the dressing rooms in their dresses to show us how pretty they looked and to ask for opinions.
